Unit 5 - Forces in Equilibrium

Best activity?

Even though it wasn't a major activity i thought the hover craft in class was cool.  I would have so much fun riding one of those in a large open spaces with ramps and stuff.

Challenging?

This was a very challenging unit for me.  I didn't really understand the relationship between SOHCAHTOA and the values of certain things in the equations.

Main Ideas?

SOHCAHTOA

Newtons First LAw

Newtons Thirds LAw

UNit 4 - Projectiles

Best activity?
The best activity from this unit was the rocket lab on lower field.  It is fun because it brings me back to my childhood, while allowing me to learn about projectiles something I have played with forever but didnt understand the science behind it.

Challenging?

The most challenging was understanding how to approach the vertical and horizontal problems.  The equations were a bit confusing but i was able to study enough to remember them.

Main Ideas?

Displacement -
Horizontal equation
Vertical equation

Unit 3 Uniform Acceleration

Best activity?

Ball drop lab was the best because i am a boy and i love balls! all kinds of balls. Footballs to marbles.

Challenging?

The idea of acceleration compared to and how it relates to the graph of velocity.  Especially when it has to do with and up and down ball movement.

Main Ideas?

Acceleration

Graphing, acceleration, speed (velocity), and position vs. time

Objects in motion like balls

Acceleration equation

Unit 2 motion in one direction

Favorite activity?

Obviously the physics Olympics because i won!  I enjoy doing hands on activities where i don't just read or see things i actually do and feel them first hand in real life.  It is also good to get some sun.

Most challenging?

The idea of negative and positive velocity, i always get the position mixed up and forget which is which.  I also had a hard time going between the velocity and time graph and the position and time graph.

Main ideas?

Velocity

position, distance, displacement

vector and scalar quantities

Kinematics

UNit 1 Introduction to Physics

Favorite Activity?

This unit was a little bit bland because it was the introduction.  I did find the pendulum lab to be somewhat interesting.  I didn't know so many aspects like the rope length, the weight, and the angle of the drop, could affect the results so diversely.

Most challenging?

I find it hard and boring to work with equations and graphs! (:

Main ideas?

The main ideas of this unit were the basic measurements and terms used in a graph of data points.  Some vocab was accuracy and precision. Scientific notation was also a large part of this unit. And lastly the y=mx+b equation.

. . All About Korey Wong . .

Hobbies

In my life i live for three things.  The surf, creating music, and my homies.  I love to surf, it beings me to a place in myself where i can relax and not be tense like i am so often.  I like to surf the south shore, but in the winter i have to out my big boy pants on and get worked up North.  Secondly i like music.  I started off with 8 years of uke experience and moved on to find my true passion in drums.  Ive played for the better part of my life.  Ive played a couple of live performances but to me music is mostly about getting rid of that tension in the life modern adolescents have to live.

Learning styles

It is easiest for me to learn when something is always going on.  This is why science classes are always more interesting to me than others.  I like looking at things happen in front of me and talking about it with the class after.  I also like opinion based classes, which isn't so much this one.

Experience

I have taken Chemistry, Biology, and AP environmental science here at Punahou.

Looking Forward to?

To me, i am interested in the waves and sound portion of the class, for obvious reasons.
